As AI becomes deeply woven into the fabric of our lives, it may transform not only the way we work, but the very way we define purpose.
Perhaps one day, the question we ask our children will no longer be:
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
Instead, we may ask:
“What would you like to contribute to the advancement of humanity?”
When AI can perform much of the work that once defined our identities, our greatest pursuit may no longer be finding a job—but discovering how our unique curiosity, creativity, compassion, and imagination can help shape a better future.
The question will shift from “What will you do for a living?” to “What will you do with your life?”
And perhaps, for the first time, humanity will have the opportunity to build a future where work is not simply about earning a living, but about creating meaning, solving the problems that matter, and leaving the world better than we found it.
