If we are serious about economic growth in the UK, we must tackle the “migration” and “closer links with Europe” immovable political roadblocks. Addressing these roadblocks will require a serious upgrade in both political leadership and media responsibility. We need politicians with the courage to pursue long-term growth strategies and a media landscape that fosters informed debate rather than polarisation.

Secondly, we must fundamentally rethink our education system. A shift from subject-based learning to skill-based curriculums is essential, so that every child, regardless of background, is equipped with the tools and mindset to become a potential entrepreneur or innovator.

Thirdly, the way we teach has not kept pace with the transformation happening across industry and society. Many schools still rely on outdated methods that have not changed much since the 1950s. If we want to prepare young people for a rapidly evolving world, education must become more dynamic, relevant, and future-focused.

I truly believe that without addressing these three points, no amount of innovation/tech hubs or government/public/private cash investment will take us where we need to be as a country.
