I hate the phrase “Shadow AI”
People in tech should seriously consider dropping it before it gets picked up and sensationalised by the MSM.
We already have a public conversation around AI that is filled with fear and anxiety, from job displacement to the idea that AI could somehow “end humanity.”
We don’t need to manufacture another ominous-sounding term for people to worry about.
There’s a legitimate conversation to be had about unapproved, unmanaged or unsanctioned use of AI within organisations. Let’s call it what it is.
Because once “Shadow AI” makes its way into mainstream headlines, I can already imagine the narrative.
We should be reducing unnecessary fear around AI, not creating new vocabulary for it.
