Politicians voting to criminalise lying in politics would be asking turkeys to vote for Christmas.
This law would need to apply to all elected officials (including the House of Lords), public servants, anyone paid with public money, as well as media personalities and journalists.
This should not be a problem for any of those groups because they, like the rest of us, I am sure, have no reason to object to always telling the truth.
I am also confident that everyone who believes we are a Christian country would support such a law, especially the self-proclaimed patriots (aka flag-lovers).
For Christians, it should be a non-negotiable requirement because the Bible is explicit:
Exodus 20:16 > “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
Leviticus 19:11 > “Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.”
Proverbs 12:22 > “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are His delight.”
